#Tuesdaytidbit - look beyond

You can achieve your dreams. Remember that business that you wanted to start but didn’t? Life got tricky, there were too many “to-do’s” and you couldn’t quite put pen to paper to turn your hobby or your big idea into a real business venture. Or what about that career change you wanted to pursue? In your heart of hearts, you knew you wanted something different than your day-to-day but you just couldn’t quite muster up the moxie to make the change. Things have a tendency of getting in the way of our hopes and dreams. Sometimes, it’s finances. Other times, it’s people. Let’s be honest…sometimes, it’s your nervousness or anxiety. But those things don’t have to hold you back. Sometimes, you just have to look beyond your present situation. You are not limited by what you see now.
I’m not sure what faith background you have or if you have one at all. But as a Christian, I’ll use a Christian example to share my outlook. Over 2000 years ago, a baby was born in a manger surrounded by animals. His parents were on a trip and all the rooms at the inns were booked, so they settled for a place where animals lie their heads at night (basically, a barn). This baby, Jesus, was born not in a fancy hospital surrounded by family and friends, but instead in a barn surrounded by farm animals. He would go on to become the leader of the Christian faith.
The reason I use this story is because, while it’s unique (and rightfully should be given the circumstances and nature of who Jesus was), it has relevance to each and every person reading this tidbit. Your current circumstances, your present surroundings…..they do not have to dictate your future. 2020 has been a tough year. Many people I know, including myself, lost a friend or loved one, if not to COVID, then something else. People lost their jobs. Some people still don’t have jobs. Finances have taken a hit. It’s been rough. But times like these enable us to seek after more, after something greater.
So here’s my moral of the story….don’t wait another second. Don’t wait to launch that business. Don’t wait to pursue that new job. Don’t wait to polish up your resume. Don’t spend another second thinking “what if I….” and just go ahead and do it!
